I have been searching for jobs since Jan. 1st and I find it pretty exhausting. However every once in a while something pops up that sounds too perfect to be true. It is almost like a little validation that you belong somewhere. The company excites you, you do all of the things in the description, it is in the field you are passionate about and the location rocks! Well my new little gem is the NREL: National Renewable Energy Laboratory. If I had gotten my engineering degree I would be all over this place. Techies everywhere! I found a communications position and applied for it today. I'm pretty excited and hope to get an interview out of the place if nothing else. I also plan on visiting the facility when I am out there next week. It is located in Golden, CO.
It feels pretty perfect! I want to use my skills in a renewable energy field, or any environmental company, it is in Golden, a great lace to work, good pay and benefits, possible education reimbursement (and close enough to Denver for CU or School of Mines for Engineering) and it will scratch my technical engineering itch. Crossing my fingers!
-picture is of a wind farm somewhere in CO. We passed this 2 years ago on my first trip out west.
