New Find

I have been searching for jobs since Jan. 1st and I find it pretty exhausting. However every once in a while something pops up that sounds too perfect to be true. It is almost like a little validation that you belong somewhere. The company excites you, you do all of the things in the description, it is in the field you are passionate about and the location rocks! Well my new little gem is the NREL: National Renewable Energy Laboratory. If I had gotten my engineering degree I would be all over this place. Techies everywhere! I found a communications position and applied for it today. I'm pretty excited and hope to get an interview out of the place if nothing else. I also plan on visiting the facility when I am out there next week. It is located in Golden, CO.

It feels pretty perfect! I want to use my skills in a renewable energy field, or any environmental company, it is in Golden, a great lace to work, good pay and benefits, possible education reimbursement (and close enough to Denver for CU or School of Mines for Engineering) and it will scratch my technical engineering itch. Crossing my fingers!

First Interview

I got my first interview!! Wahooo! I am meeting with Action Marketing Group, Monday the 10th at 2PM! The lady was absolutely wonderful on the phone and we really hit it off! Can't wait to go in there and knock em dead. They do not have any positions open right now but she said things change almost on a weekly basis so they want to have people ready that they can call if need be.

check them out at www.action-marketing-group.com !

Lemonade

Well hell...I sent an e-mail to the HR guy at Whole Foods yesterday telling him I would be in the area March 6-11th and that I would be available for an interview. I got a basic reply saying...sorry but we have decided to pursue other applicants. REJECTED!! Damn! I kind of liked it better thinking there might be a mistake or mis-comunitcation or he was just really busy....yeah I liked the ignorance of not knowing for sure they had rejected me. Ohh well, I just wonder if it was my location or something else. That is the hardest part. Wondering if I need my MBA or more experience or just any experience outside of the Music Business, which no one seems to really understand. I'm also finding it hard to want to make my current projects bigger and better for people who seem to not even care. Getting blown off time and time again and then getting bitched out because things aren't optimal for their 'precious' time spent. In my opinion these projects should be the most important things to them right now. Why should I care if they don't. Down on humanity today. Trying to make them lemonade out of lemons.

Denver here I come!

I booked a flight to Denver today for March 6th -11th. Jamie is planning on coming with me and he has encouraged me to go and check out the areas. He doesn't think I will like Boulder or the people etc. I disagree and hope that our experience there together changes his mind. In either case I will go out armed with a ton of resumes and hopefully schedule a couple interviews before I leave! I am planning on visiting Boulder, Denver, and Golden. I am most interested in Boulder and Golden and Denver is kind of a fall back since it has all of the things I am looking for (school, recreation, industry, $ of living etc.) Off to the races!

Scholarship Program Launch

Feb 9 2008 marked the start of the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Scholarship Program dedicated to motivating young adults in life through involved after school activities. I created this program for Jeff's family in memory of their son Alex who passed away last year in an accident. We have 3 kids signed up and are targeting 12 this year for the program. We hope that we can grow this thing each year and get more and more kids involved. This program is targeting young adult skaters and provides them with mentors, grade and behavior goals and free skating and gear incentives for a semester. It has been great working on this and i have considered starting my own foundation to help kids get motivated through other activities...then i could facilitate the programs using other 'funds and foundations' money. We'll see, too many ideas and not enough hours in the day.

Looks like our kid Mama could use some motivation!

Whole Foods

So I have not heard back yet from Whole Foods. I was sure I would get the call for the interview. I mean he practically told me I would before we hung up the phone last time. He has today and Monday to get back to me. After that I'll try to contact him again. I really wish I was out there. I just can't help but think it would make such a difference in me getting a position.

Either way I have been studying up on my marketing skills and hope to be prepared for the interview if I get it, or any others.

I applied for a job yesterday with Action Marketing Group. They do a lot of projects with some really great national brands. Not what I ultimately want out there but I think it would get me in the door and out there. I hope I get a call!

it starts....

In my transition to a new location, a new career, becoming an Aunt soon (Hell Yeah!) and other fun things, I thought it might be fun to create a place where family and interested friends could come check out the new adventures.
